DRAGON BITES carb-counted recipe

A family-friendly, mostly healthy (sometimes treat-y!) simple recipe for families living well with type 1 diabetes.

Yum it up for Dad this Father's Day!

Tater Tot Nachos

This recipe may seem like it’s na-cho ordinary diabetes-friendly recipe, but kids with #T1D can eat the same things as their peers, we just need to count the carbs (and perhaps fat) and cover them with enough insulin at the right time! These Tater Tot Nachos are a quick, easy-to-make twist on conventional nachos (kids will have fun helping!) and are fully customizable to include your family’s favourite toppings. They hit the spot for a busy weekday supper, for a football game snack, or to treat dad to more than just a cheesy joke on Father’s Day.

CARB & FAT CONTENT:

Total carbs: 155g
Total fat: 125g

Total yield: 1030g weight

Carb Factor: 0.15

To calculate the total grams of carbs in in your individual serving size, multiply this carb factor by the weight (in grams) of the serving size you dish up. For example, a serving that weighs 200g would have 200 x 0.15 = 30g of carbs.

Fat Factor: 0.12

To calculate the total grams of fat in in your individual serving size, multiply this fat factor by the weight (in grams) of the serving size you dish up. For example, a serving that weighs 200g would have 200 x 0.12 = 24g of fat.
